Cozy Up Your Space This Autumn

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are officially on the menu and the kids have gone back to school - both signs Fall is drawing near. Here are a few tips to freshen up your space with the changing season in preparation of *hopefully* welcoming guests into your home for that Thanksgiving get-together we all deserve!

Texture Texture Texture

Fend off the evening chill with a variety of cozy, comfortable textures this Autumn. Plaid and tartan prints are always a Fall classic but this year large chunky knit throw blankets are huge! Don't be afraid to layer different textures and patterns through your throw blankets, pillows, table runners, and area rugs. A cozy Fall material making a comeback this year... velvet. Layer in velvet pillows in comforting, warm earthy tones for trendy look this Autumn.

A Rich Colour Palette

What colours typically come to mind when you think of falling leaves and Thanksgiving dinners? Pumpkin orange, mustard yellow, chocolate brown hues and rich Autumn reds? Of course! You will never go wrong with these classic Fall colours. Trending this year is the addition of deeper shades inspired by nature as well. Decadent plum or navy hues mesh well with warm tones of yellow and brown. Jewel toned green colours can really ground a palette filled with the brightness of orange and red. Play around with the colours inspired by Mother Nature this Autumn and see what you come up with!

It's Not All Looks

Autumn is an excellent time of year to switch up the scents in your home as well. Why not replace fresh citrus aromas of Spring with warmer, earthier scents such as vanilla or cinnamon? *It's important to look for natural scent solutions such as soy or beeswax candles scented with high quality essential oils. Heavily scented paraffin wax candles have been shown to emit toxic VOC's into the air when lit, decreasing the indoor air quality of your home.* Some of my favourite Fall scents include Tobacco and Whiskey, Almond Cookie, Cedar Bark & Cinnamon and Slow Sunday (espresso, chocolate and cardamom!) I do not collect any commission from the sale of the above products - they are just a few of my favourite things!
